Bren Esports Secure Grand Finals Spot

Bren Esports from the Philippines have defied all expectations by reaching the grand finals of the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship in style after trashing hot-favourites RRQ Hoshi from Indonesia with a convincing 3-1 victory in the Lower Bracket Finals.

Awaiting them in the grand finals are none other than MPL Myanmar champions Burmese Ghouls, who emerged as the dark horse of the tournament after taking down MPL Indonesia champions RRQ Hoshi in a five-game thriller in the Upper Bracket Finals.

Karltzy was named MVP of Match 2 against RRQ Hoshi.

Bren Esports’ journey to the final has not been easy. After dropping to the Lower Bracket, they sent Malaysian team Todak packing in the quarter finals, before dispatching Indonesia’s Alter Ego in the semi-finals. The two rivals last faced each other in the ONE Esports MPLI grand finals, where the Filipinos were outgunned.

The other representative from the Philippines, Omega Esports, started out strong with an undefeated streak on Day 1 but eventually dropped to the Lower Bracket after a 0-2 defeat at the hands of RRQ Hoshi at the championship playoffs. Their campaign came to an end after another defeat against Alter Ego in the Lower Bracket quarter finals.

Indonesia, widely regarded as a powerhouse in the professional MLBB scene, are left without a representative in the grand finals. The M1 World Championship in 2019 was won by EVOS Legends, who are absent from this year’s tournament.

The highly anticipated grand finals between Bren Esports and Burmese Ghouls will commence later today at 6pm (GMT+8) and you can watch the action live on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s official Facebook page or on meWATCH.

The 12 best teams from nine represented countries around the world are competing in a week-long tournament that culminates in a Best of 5 Grand Final on January 24 (Sunday) for the lion’s share of the US$300,000 prize pool.
