Soulcalibur VI’s second season is coming to an end and is closing off with a bang as series veteran, Hwang, makes his valiant return to the franchise as the final DLC character for the season.
Hwang Seong-gyeong has been a playable character within the franchise from the very first game, Soul Edge. He has always been characterised as a spirited swordsman who uses single-handed blades like scimitars and falchions.
He was a series staple up until Soulcalibur III, when he was quietly phased out and replaced by his pupil and clone character, Yun-seong.
Hwang’s revamped look and moveset has him adopting a more ninja-like persona, with a Bloodborne-like mask and costume, and his usage of mystic sword arts.
The new reveal trailer shows Hwang saving his betrothed, Seong Mi-na, who is already part of the base roster of Soulcalibur VI. Along with Hwang, this final wave of DLC additions includes a new stage and a number of character creator parts, including Seong Mi-na’s classic costume and costumes based on its sister franchise, Tekken.
Overall, Soulcalibur VI is probably the most definitive version of the franchise yet, especially with its emphasis on the series staples in theroster. Don’t forget the cool crossover characters they have on the roster, which include Geralt from The Witcher 3 on the base roster, 2B from Nier: Automata for Season 1, and Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown for Season 2.
Season 2’s DLC Pack 13 and 14 will be coming to Soulcalibur VI on December 2.
